My role as a Therapist allows me the privilege of working with remarkable people who seek out and move towards positive and lasting change. I am grateful to be part of a process that allows this change to occur, and healing to begin. With this in mind you may have questions, some of which I hope to have included here:
What model of Therapy do you use?
I integrate a range of therapeutic models meaning I tailor aspects of each approach to suit my client's needs. Primarily I work from a person-centred approach which is about active listening, deep understanding and unconditional acceptance. I bring various skills from a variety of approaches to ensure my client is supported throughout the therapy process as they evolve and work towards personal goals.
What are your qualifications?
Initially having acquired a Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy I went on to gain a First Class Honours BSc Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Since then I have trained as a Clinical Supervisor as well as completing Professional Certificates in CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) and Group Therapy. These qualifications were awarded by PCI College, Middlesex University London and DCU Dublin respectively.
As a fully Accredited Member of the Irish Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy I work in accordance to the IACP Code of Ethics. In addition, I am supervised regularly by an IACP Accredited Supervisor and committed to continued professional development.
What happens during our first session?
This is a chance for us to sit and talk about what issues are causing you difficulty, and whether we both feel we are a good 'fit' to work on these difficulties together. Having done this, we will discuss a contract that will sum up how we plan to work together, to include confidentiality, frequency of sessions, fees and cancellation policy.
